Our Policies
Medications
If you need a prescription refilled, please call our office and ask for the nurse's line, where you may leave a message with the name of the medicine, dosage, and pharmacy, or send a refill request through the patient portal.
24-Hour Policy: All requests for prescription refills will be available at the time of request on the next business day.
For example, if a prescription refill request is phoned in at 9:30 am on Tuesday, the prescription will be ready by
9:30 am Wednesday. Please note they will be ready the next business day, so if you call a prescription in on
Friday, the prescription will not be ready until Monday. So please know when you need your next refill and
give yourself ample time to get it refilled before you run out.
Appointments
- As of August 1st, 2011, our late policy has changed from 20 minutes to 15 minutes. Any patients later than 15 minutes to their scheduled time will
have to reschedule.
- New patients to our practice must first get be seen for an establishing appointment before they can be
seen for any other visit. These visits are typically only available several weeks out, so please schedule
as soon as you are able.
- For this first appointment, we ask that you bring your insurance card, a photo ID (a driver's license
will be fine), the bottles of any prescription medicines you are regularly taking, and be prepared to
pay your copay. There is no paperwork to be filled out.
- It is our policy that if you "no show" (don't show up for your appointment without giving us advance notice) for your first appointment, we will not accept you into our practice. If you cannot make it to your first appointment, please call to reschedule.
Payment
We collect copays at the start of your visit. We cannot bill you for your copay; this must be payed at the time of your visit. For self-pay patients, we collect an initial fee up front, and if anything else was done (urinalysis, PFT, etc), the rest is colleced at check out. If you have a question about what a visit might cost, please call our office. We accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover card for payments, as well as cash and checks.
While payment is expected at the time of service, we offer payment plans and reduced fees for those in financial need. If you have any concerns about being able to pay for your visit, please ask to speak with Doris.
Referrals and Pre-Authorizations
Referrals must be requested at least 2-3 business days prior to your appointment. Prior
authorizations must be requested at least 5 business days prior to your appointment. Referrals cannot
be faxed to doctor's offices; they must be picked up at our office. Failure to do so may result in
rescheduling of the appointment.
To request a referral, call our office and ask for Kate's line, where you can leave a detailed message about
your appointment. You can also fill out a referral request, available at our front desk or here.
Medical Records
Tests
We are able to do some diagnostic tests in our office. We can do electrocardiograms (EKG), pulmonary function tests (PFT), urine analysis, and bone density scans (DEXA). For any labs or x-rays, you can use the office in the suite next to ours (Rising Sun Diagnostics) or choose another location.
Our office will contact you with the results, either by phone, letter, or through the patient portal. If you don't hear from us, please call our office and we will get back to you with those results.
